The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for the health and safety of company employees, visitors, and contractors, as well as the company's compliance with environmental laws and regulations. The manager participates in and leads initiatives to provide for the safety and health of employees. The position ensures all employees are trained in EHS components relating to their position. The EHS Manager works with the Operations Manager and construction site supervisors to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for all employees, equipment, operations, and construction activities. The role reduces workers’ compensation exposure through accident investigations and proactive accident reduction techniques, including construction site hazard assessments and risk mitigation

  • Implements EHS programs in compliance with rules and regulations including construction site safety requirements
  • Evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government
  • Conducts safety training and demonstrates the use of safety
  • Investigate accidents to identify causes and determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to management and liaison with regulatory agency inspections and correspondence.
  • Represents the company in community and industry safety groups and programs
  • Keeps abreast of current developments of training, safety, and accident prevention
  • Maintains records and assembling reports on lost time
  • Implements hazardous material procedures
  • Manages fire safety systems at the plant, including inspections, maintenance, and emergency response readiness for fire protection equipment and systems.
  • Drive EHS compliance through audits, process/equipment review, construction site inspection and proactive risk elimination and track corrective actions to
  • Compiles periodic reports to Corporate, works cooperatively with EHS Corporate on risk reduction projects and
  • Serves as a lead to develop and implement site emergency response plans including hazardous material handling and spill
  • Reviews EHS incidences and audit findings and monitors leading and lagging indicators to detect performance trends.
  • Participation in management review and performance excellence
  • Review project and product technical and testing requirements to assure EHS requirements are followed
  • Manages and supports site safety at construction locations to ensure they are equipped with the necessary training, resources, and guidance to enforce EHS standards effectively.
  • Provides leadership and direction to site safety personnel, regularly communicating safety expectations and supporting their daily activities and problem-solving efforts.
  • Coordinates with site safety to conduct incident investigations, audits, and follow-up actions, fostering continuous improvement in site safety performance.
  • ISO 14001 & 45001 management
  • Ensuring third-party contractors follow company safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements and developing and managing contractor safety orientation and monitoring their safety performance on-site.

Travel

Supervisory Responsibility

 

This position directly supervises site safety and EHS personnel across plant and construction sites, providing leadership, training, and operational support to ensure full compliance with safety regulations and best practices.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or 10 years+ of relevant experience
  • Proven track record within our industry or industries with comparable risk profiles and cultures
  • Demonstrable track record of driving safety implementations successfully throughout facilities
  • Comparable site (practical) experience in a highly engineered / manufacturing environment
